Nepal finished runner-up for the second consecutive times of the tournament after the hosts Malaysia routed Nepal by one wicket in the dramatic final of the tournament. With this victory over well-known opponent, Malaysia also avenged their group stage defeat at the hands of 2010 edition runner-up Nepal. On the other hand, Nepal failed to maintain their glorious history against Malaysia and tasted their first loss and failed to lift their only age group trophy left so far as well.
